About Kim Lyons
Kim started to dance at the age of four with Marie Cole
A.R.A.D. She joined the Irish Youth Ballet in 1984 and took part in
several productions with the company in the Olympia, Gaiety and National
Concert Hall.
Kim was awarded a scholarship to train in Russia where she spent her
time at the Russian Perm Institute of Ballet where she studied under
Madam Zechariah, a former principle Ballerina with the Kirov
Ballet.
On her return to Ireland Kim performed in a Russian Ballet Gala with
her Russian counterparts performing excerpts from Swan Lake, Coppelia
and Nutcracker. Kim made several appearances on national and international
television as a professional dancer. Kim has starred in various Stage
productions including Verdis Opera (Aida), The Follies and several pantos.
In 1995 Kim established the Kim Lyons Classical Ballet & Stage School
where she teaches Classical
Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap and Hip
Hop. In 2004 Kim established her Drama
department with Jennie Place B.A. as Principle Drama Teacher where students
study Mime, Characterisation, Theatre and go for castings.
As an established adjudicator of Hip-Hop and Freestyle with the United
Kingdom Alliance (M.U.K.A.) in 2005 Kim established the K.L. Pulse Hip
Hop teams to compete nationally. In only two competitions Kim's senior
teams went from starters first place winners to champion level.
This is the 10th anniversary of the Kim Lyons Classical Ballet Drama
& Stage School and Kim would like to thank all her students for
their hard work and commitment and their parents for their support.
